Grahame is noted particularly for his mastery of the use of washes to create mood and capture the effects of light, colour and space in countryside and seascape.

He has painted not only in Pembrokeshire, but also in many countries abroad, the Caribbean in particular. His skill lies in re-interpreting with engaging freshness and spontaneity the atmosphere of heat as well as time and place.
